Nesta & The Rockerfeller Foundation wanted to compile and normalize a set of tools for social innovation practitioners. We designed a publication that would present the entire set in an easy to access manner and a complimentary website that presented the entire set as well as helped create a community and support base around the project.
WHAT WE DID
First a working prototype with a first draft of designed worksheets was made for testing. Quicksand organized workshops and collected, documented and consolidated user feedback.
The toolkit was named Development Impact & You, with the acronym D.I.Y. working as an apt indicator of the method of practical social innovation.
The Tools were structured and organized according to their function and desired objectives.
Each tool was accompanied with instructions and tips for use as well as some case studies with examples of the tool in use in the field.
The Web version of the toolkit was imagined as a free access content resource and knowledge sharing community in order to maximize the reach, accessibility and impact of DIY.
The navigation mirrored the structure in the book to make finding relevant tools easy.
The worksheets were freely available to download and print in various sizes, from a4 for individual use to a1 for group discussions and brainstorming sessions.
